IMPHAL: Success stories are not made in a day. And behind CBSE Class XII topper Mohammad Ismat's unprecedented success are years of hard work and two years of mentoring by S M Singh, the management secretary of Imphal-based Zenith Academy. "After passing my matric from Sainik School, Imphal with 94.2%, I could not continue to study there because of my family's financial condition," Ismat said.

Having learnt that Zenith Academy facilitated those without the means to pursue their studies at the least possible cost, Ismat approached the school. "I explained my family's financial constraints to the authorities and earnestly requested them to grant me admission. Singh Sir did not accept my request immediately, but said 'let's see'," Ismat added.
Meanwhile, S M Singh verified Ismat's claims and found what the young boy had said was true. "Once I was sure Ismat was sincere and had the mental strength to become the best among equals, I got him admitted to the academy for the minimum possible fee," Singh said.

Soon, Usmat proved himself to be the most disciplined and sincere student in the academy. "He scored 100 in the subject due to his clear mathematical concepts," said the academy's mathematics teacher, Kangabam Ningthem Pishak.

Now, the entire school is basking in his reflected glory. Principal Laishram Premila beamed, "Ismat's feat has made put us on the top of the world."
