All the universities to which students are admitted by the RCIE (Russian Centre for International Education) are government run higher education institutions and students graduating from these universities got the worldwide recognition to their academic qualification. In recognition, out of the top 100 medical colleges in the world, 30 are Russian medical universities. As all the universities are listed in the MCI Act 1956 and World Directory of Medical Schools (WDMS) published by World Health Organisation (WHO), the students will be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of India. The WHO and UNESCO have rated the Moscow Medical Academy, The Russian State Medical University, and the St. Petersburg State Medical University second, third and tenth in the world, respectively. Tver state medical academy is the most popular for foreign students. Unlike the other countries, there are no pre-qualifying exams like CET, IELTS, etc. for admissions to universities in Russia. The admissions are based on the 12th standard marks for bachelor degree programme. The academic programmes are instructed in English and Russian medium. In English medium, Russian language class is included which gives the knowledge of local language as an added asset for the student in interacting with local population.
As a result, the number of Indian Students in Russian medical institutions has increased phenomenally over the years. As compare to western institutions, Russian institutions provide students with the foundation aimed at research works. Education in Russia is highly subsidised by the Government of the Russian Federation. Therefore there are no separate scholarships or grants available from individual universities. Bank loans, at very low interest are available from all banks, which generally paid one year after the completion of the course. In an Indian or foreign universities, tuition fees for bachelor degree programme vary up to $ 80,000 - $ 100,000, whereas in Russia it vary from $ 20,000 - $ 40,000. Besides, Russian Universities have a unique student-teacher ratio of 7:1, assuring the individual attention and quality education to each student in shaping their future.
The development of bilateral economic and commercial ties requires well trained personnel in space research, technology, medicine and other fields. With Russian education, the students could further enhance and furnish the bilateral cooperation and rejuvenate the Indian-Russian friendship and mutually beneficial partnership between to nations.
